Wine storage,im new to wine and i want to start collecting and turn a small portion of my basement into a wine cellar- my question is if i put one in my basement, would the movement or vibration of washer and dryer, or garage door interupt the aging of my wine? i am thinking about making a vault for it- like this

Most likely, minor vibrations will not affect wine if it is stored properly. The wine should be in a cool dark place stored on its side if the wine bottle has a cork. If it is a screw top bottle, storage position is irrelevant. Even if your wine is subject to some movement and vibration, this can be overcome by decanting the wine at the time you open it or it can be relocated for a day or two to a vibration free environment before opening. Any collected sediment should migrate to the neck of the bottle if stored on its side and careful opening will prevent the sediment from co mingling with the wine at the time of serving.

    You’ll be fine. Good luck.
