The following is a wine cellar that we just completed. We used the space between the house and the detached garage to put in the cellar. The wine racking was from Wine Cellar innovations. We used Icyene foam insulation. It has a split air cooling system that keeps it a steady 55 degrees. It will hold all most 2000 bottles at full capacity.

BRAVO!

If you don’t have high quality insulation and a vapor barrier, your electricity bills will be substansial. We used Icynene foam inulation 6″+ thick. Our electricity bill increase is minimal due to the fact that unless it is 85 or above outside, it rarely operates.

Please, tell us how much it cost to put that together? I am looking into doing something similar but wonder about the cost.
Thank you
Sue

Racks were about $13K
Cooling unit was about $5K
The addition was more than we were planning on….

less ornate stonework and more racks. Also we ripped out the finished cork flooring due to multiple leaks. We now have crushed limestone with large slate “stepping stones”

Where did you purchase the wine racks from? I saw they came partially pre-assembled
moopaforce // May 11, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Vigilant, Inc. has the best wine racks in the world. They built the racks for a friends house and it’s awesome. Check out their showcase page.

We looked at Vigilant but they were more expensive and did not appear to have the same quality as Wine Cellar Innovations. Additionally, Wine Cellar Innovations had more design options.

i like the lights.
The roof is woring? Can resist the weather? It seems like to me, it’s an easy construction.
