It depends where you are (for the light beer part of the question).

In the USA / Canada light beer is that which is lower in carbohydrates. In terms of beer this means less complex sugars such as dextrins. The brewers of light beer often use extra enzymes which make smaller sugar compounds. When beer is fermenting, yeast finds it much easier to convert smaller sugars to alcohol. If a beer contains longer chain sugars, they tend to remain in the beer. (Think of stouts and ales). They have much more mouthfeel which comes from these more complex sugars. A light beer has less of these complex sugars, and hence less carbs.

Thought the alcohol still contributes energy.

Down here in Australia/New Zealand, a light beer is a low alcohol beer.

Light beer is a beer that is lighter than its full-calorie counter part… lighter in color, taste, calories, carbs, and alcohol.
    Think Miller Lite vs. MGD.

Wine cooler is a fortified wine beverage with added sugar and fruit flavors.

    Both are pure garbage.
    Drink Better Beer.

    Cheers.
