What is the difference between bark and cork? Why also, is a cork useful in the storage of wines?

Bark is the outside covering of the stems and roots of trees and woody plants. Cork is the outer bark of the cork oak. It’s useful for wine storage because of its elasticity–it will compress to fit into bottle necks, and expand to form a tight seal.
