What is the difference between a wine and wine coolers?

What is the difference between these and where would i find wine coolers and what would they be called as i went to the store and saw coolers but when i bought them i realized they are flavored beer?

    so get this, a lot of wine coolers don’t actually contain wine. they are made using unflavored beer as the main alcohol… this is why most are labeled "malt beverage."

    if you want a real "wine" cooler, just buy a cheap bottle of dessert wine and mix a few ounces with some some ginger ale or club soda.

    wine coolers will most likely be in the refridgerated section.
    they are sugary and sweet and have a lot less alcohol than wine. if its pink, red, or orange its prob a wine cooler.
    Flavored beer is only brown.
