Wine cooling,vs just putting the wine in the fridge? I saw one that holds 8 bottles for a good price. Thinking of getting it for my parents (they are hard to buy for!!) They like to drink wine but don’t have one so I am not sure why. If they are beneficial.

A wine cooler is not as cold as a fridge. It typically cools wine to 57 degrees. It keeps the wine at an ideal and even temperature and ages it in optimal conditions. Room temperature is too warm and the fridge is too cold for long term storage of wine.
Consider buying something a little larger than 8 bottles. As a benchmark, I bought one at Costco for approx. $300 and it holds 60 bottles. It also has a temperature gradiant that keeps the bottom bottles (white and champagne) cooler than the top shelves (red wine).
