I am going to be getting wine for a special occasion coming up, what is the average price and do you have a suggestion of a good red wine?

You should probably go to a wine shop with an idea of what you’d prefer to spend & have a discussion with someone who works there. They can guide you. You could spend hundreds of $$ on a single bottle.
That said, a bottle in the $20-40 range will probably fit your needs. From there, determine what you like in a wine (fruity, zesty, subtle, dry, etc.), or maybe what sort of food will be paired with it.
Everyone’s tastes & preferences are different. Personally, I like a robust, supple Australian shiraz, or an old vine California zinfandel. Others may prefer the complexity of a French bordeaux, or the straightforward berry taste of many merlots.
Enjoy!!

It isn’t average price you’re looking for. You need to talk to someone in the liquor store and get advice. Some very good wines can be quite inexpensive. And some good wines can be VERY expensive. Tell the person at the liquor store how much you’d like to spend, and then let him guide you to the right wine for the occasion.

Good price avg around say 20.00 a bottle but hey I have had some great wine for 8.00 a bottle.
I think if you go to http://www.foodnetwork.com and search about wines with say different foods that ought to give you a good answer or go to http://www.ask.com and ask anything

How do you like your wine? This will depend on the variety, thus the price. If its for a special occasion, maybe you’d want to spend a few more bucks for a low production from boutique wineries?..good ice breaker for some occasion
