Beringer offers several different wines. Depending on what you consider cheap you can purchase numerous types of Beringer between $8 – $16. I’m from western NY and it is popular here.

It depends on if you like white, red, etc…I like all of the Black Swan or Yellow Tail wines. They both have a nice variety.

Carlo Rossi makes a nice Paisino wine that is sold by the gallon and tastes good and keeps well in the screw on lid bottle. I use it all of the time for cooking buy used to use it as our regular wine when we had less to spend.

Go to bevmo.com. You can select a price range, and it will give you a price and a rating. The best wines are rated in the 90s. 80s are still good. As an example, from bevmo’s home page, I clicked on wines under $10. Here’s what you get:
http://www.bevmo.com/productlist.asp?N=168+39+4294961735+13&Nr=Store%3A99&area=wine&
The strange codes under the wine are deciphered as follows. "ww’ is the name of their person who rated the wine. The number under "ww" is the rating he/she gave the wine. If one of those wines is available at your liquor store for a good price, BUY IT!
