Wine Glasses, I am wine drinker. I will drink it in pretty much anything. It’s not a big deal to me. BUT, when it comes to purchasing for my parents & future in-laws, I’d like to keep it classy. They both enjoy red and white wine. Anything I should keep an eye out for while shopping for the glasses?
I really have no prior knowledge about wine glasses. I’d like them to be within a reasonable price range but not cheap, not extremely breakable & very attractive.

Good wine glasses are the perfect equal to good wine. Here are some characteristics of a good wine glass:
Basic
Have absolutely no color on them
Have no etchings, carvings on them
Have a stem (dont get the new stemless glasses)
Advance
White wine glasses should have about a 8 oz bowl
Red wine glasses should have a minimum of a 12 oz bowl
Champagne glasses should be shaped like a tulip
the inside and outside of the entire glass should be round without any angles
Really Advanced
If you feel the rim of the glass, there should be no lip
The glass should be well balanced and equal weighted
Good brands
Reidel – really expensive – dont get these unless your average retail bottle cost is $50
Stozle – my personal favorite – about $6/7 per glass
Spiegelau – good brand
Hint – go to the best and biggest wine/liquor store in the area and talk to a sales person
