Vintage Wine,Ok, so I need the name of a bottle of wine or cognac that you could have bought in 1959 for a present to be given this year (so something that would have been expected to age well). Cost is not an issue, but it must be something a man would have bought in 1959 to keep for his son for his 50th birthday (for a book I’m writing).
Any thoughts?

A Pomerol 1959, which was an excellent vintage

Here is a list of wines complete with reviews… The Rothchild’s is amazing. I was lucky enough to have the 1960 at an event in California last year. I think that bottle went for close to $3000.

Edit – I don’t think she’s being nit picky about when the wine was ACTUALLY produced. I believe that as long as the label says "1959", that will suffice.

Watch out though – you would NEVER be able to buy a 1959 vintage bottle of wine IN 1959. It wouldn’t be released until 1960 at the absolute earliest or even 3, 4, 5 years later than that. If it’s Champagne (if there was even a ’59 vintage) it could be even longer than that!
