How should I store a bottle of unopened wine? I know refridgerator is not the place, is a cabinet ok?
Thanks.
It is red wine. I don’t want to drink it yet. It has sentimental value to me.

First, just make sure the bottles are close enough to horizontal to keep the corks wet, to prevent them from drying out, and shrinking, and letting air pass to the wine.
Second: the temperature should be between 55-57F plus a relative humidity in the range of 60-70%
Third: should be stored in a vibration-free and dark environment. While low incandescent lighting is okay, direct sunlight and even fluorescent lighting can destroy a wine over time.

It your cabinet is located in a fresh-cool environment, it;s OK, but if it’s in the kitchen then it’s a NO-NO.

You have to be more specific…Red…White?

yeah a cabinet is okay, however, why wouldn’t you just finish it and be done with it.

It sould be someplace cooler and more humid than your home- if you plan on storing it for awhile. If you plan on drinking it in the next month or two, and your home is not too hot, then in a cupboard should be fine.

Corked wine should be laid on its side with the cork facing down. Red should NEVER be refridgerated.

If you plan to keep it a long time, it should be kept somewhere cool (around 50 to 60 degrees F, if possible. For a few weeks, that doesn’t matter. Also, if the wine has a real cork, then the bottle should be tilted so that the cork stays in contact with the wine and doesn’t dry out.

Keep the bottles out of sunlight too.

Red wines are best kept stored at room temperature on its side. If you plan on saving it for a long time, try to rotate the bottle once a month. White wine- Garbage.

Just keep it somewhere cool and dark. For goodness sake don’t rotate it once a month. If you are going to keep it many years then layit on its side, but it should be OK upright for a up to 5 years.
