I would assume it keeps the wine from dripping after you pour it.

to collect seeds and pulp from the cask or vat.

I would assume to increase the oxidation of the wine (letting it breathe).

to keep the wine from dripping out and going to waste (the ones you put on the wine bottle itself… )

or the other kind is where you dispense the wine from a bottle or carriage system and that also keeps the wine from dripping and being exposed to oxygen before you use it.

another way of keeping wine from getting bruised or contaminated.

decanters are also great for aerating wine for better taste.

then there are the fruit pressers where the fruit drips out gently as the liquid is filtered heavily from the fruit press. that’s yet another wine dripper.

then you have the wine drippers that are from a vapor system to make brandy… where you warm the wine with heat and let the steam from it pass through a series of tubes and bowls and let the wine drip from the other end converting it to brandy from red wine… so on…

there’s so many types of wine drippers i’m sorry that i couldn’t answer this query better.. i’d have to see the picture beforehand.

    :D
