My husband and I are looking to visit wine country for our anniversary but I don’t like anything but dessert wines. I don’t like grappa or most ports as they usually contain too much alcohol. I prefer the alcohol content to be around the 5-8% mark. Any ideas of good wineries to visit?

For starters, here’s a great interactive map of the various wineries in and around Napa. You got lots of places to work with.

On a few different notes:
One of my favorite places is Navarro Vineyards. They offer a very nice selections of wine. One item in particular (more of a "specialty item" which is my favorite is their grape juices made from the wine grapes). They are not like your usual Concord super sweet grape juices. These wonderful juices remain non-alcoholic and hints of the various wine grapes they use so they aren’t super sweet. They are very refreshing. I’m sure that other wineries produce similar products but I was introduced to Navarro’s grape juice first…so I’m a bit partial.

"V. Sattui" is also another favorite place to stop, wine taste and picnic on their grounds. They have a great shop there where you can buy everything you need from sausages to deli meats to cheeses & crackers once you’ve selected your favorite wines. I picked up a wonderful dessert wine, "Vin Santo" which was great. It’s different in that it’s aged in the attic rather than the cellars. I don’t know if they still carry it, but you can ask around for Vin Santo.
