It is used to store wine or in some process to make wine. It is like a large jar with a tall opening and sometimes has a cord type wraping around it. It comes from Italy.
I am looking for a wine storage jar from Italy. It is called a tommy jon. I am not sure of the spelling for it

I think you mean a demi-john. Holds a gallon of liquid. Sometimes has wickerwork around it.
