Wine storage,my husband and I are DIY newbies.
I would love for us to make our own ottoman in our spare time.
You know, the kind where you lift up the seat and there is a compartment inside for storage.
How to get the raw materials for this?
I’ve heard you can use wine crates, but where do you get them for free?

basically it is a blanket chest with a padded top it can be made of wood or woven cain if you want to do it cheaply use the wood from pallets you can get it easily as long as you sand it well it will do the job

Are you sure that you would be happy with an ottoman made of cardboard? Such are the "wine crates" where I live.
