I have quality new cabinets w/glass doors that I use for wine glasses. they always have the smell and taste of either the wood or finish. I have put spacers on doors so they are open a slight bit, but doesn’t help.

Two things.
Make sure the glasses are 100% dry before putting them in the cabinet.
Put several small containers of baking soda in the cabinet to absorb the odors. It sounds like your cabinet maker used a new type of finish. This is usually not a problem. I recomend using solid oak for wine cabinets.

Time will solve this problem but in the mean time, you could put the glasses elsewhere, wash them before use, or install an under-hung rack for them and permanently move them to the bottom of a cabinet.

How about some self liner/macktack?…That would probably help.
