Wine storage,When I put soda cans or an olive jar or a wine bottle on the shelves of my new refrigerator door, they just slide around and fall over (wine bottle) because the bins are so deep. My previous bins were more narrow, but appear to have been much more useful. Is there any type of shelf organizer or method to arrange items on the door to make them more secure? I hate my brand new refrigerator because the door shelves are totally wasted. I hope someone has an answer!

One way to make dividers, and adjustable storage compartments in your fridge door is to buy a few, larger size, plastic towel hooks that are made to stick to the wall with a flexible plastic suction cup. They are available at bath shoppes, and many other places. They will jut out to hold jars and bottles from tipping over. You can put them on the fridge door upside down, or stick them to the front inside wall of the door shelf, if you don’t want them looking too much like towel hooks.
Otherwise, load your door with smaller bottles and jars in front, and tall bottles in back. Laying cans of soda on their side is not a problem…stack 3 or 4 on top of each other as they lay sideways in the door. Half gallon cartons of juice and milk will not tip over. A dozen eggs, plastic containers of butter spreads, larger jars of pickles, and things like that will usually not tip over.
If you like celery, or carrots, instead of putting them in the vegetable drawer, put them in a water pitcher and place that in the fridge door, as a solid piece to hold other things from tipping over.
You can get a shelf with ridges to cover your metal inside shelf. The ridges are so that bottles, like wine bottles, won’t roll around when you lay them flat.
You can use a wire basket, and put small jars of mustard, and olives, and things like that in their separate area. Keep that on the inside shelf if the basket doesn’t fit in the door. You could also use a stainless steel fryer basket, as a place for small jars and bottles, like condiments. It’s nice because it has a handle and you can lift the whole thing out easily.
Without knowing things you buy, or exactly how wide your door shelf is, it’s hard to make other suggestions.
If you are still having problems, you can take things out of their jars, like olives, and put them in small tupperware-type containers for storage.
Hope this helps.
