Wine storage,Hey guys,

I am thinking about buying a portable wine cellar to store the wines my friends gave me. I know red and white wines needs to be in different temperature for storage but i am not sure if I can place them into the same wine cellar? I see there are dual temperature wine cellar but they stores like 40 to 100 bottles ! I am not a big drinker and don’t wanna spend that kinda money. anyone has any info or knows if I can just get one of those 6 to 9 bottles wine cellar and have both white and red wine in it together in the same temperature? Thanks

As I know, the store temperature for red and white wines is the same. And serving temperature differs.

Keep in mind that a wine cooler and wine cellar are two different things. You’re talking about a wine cooler. The smaller wine coolers tend to be set for white wine temperatures, which is too cold for red. The larger wine coolers sometimes come as dual temperatures. So, the answer is most likely not. You’ll need to check the wine cooler that you’re looking at to see where the temperature is set.

Some red wines will improve their flavor when they are kept in a bottle for a few years. This is not true with white wines as no aging is good; therefore, Wine coolers are general used for aging red wines.

A full cooler is better then an empty one. If you have room, then I would store my whites, but make a point to drink them soon.
